Wediombo Beach

Wediombo BeachLocated on east of Krakal beach, this beach is a wide bay shape with white sand and surrounded by limestone hills. Sound of the wave against the beach and the refresh wind wafting the palm leaves create relaxing atmosphere.

Samas Beach

Samas BeachLocated 25 km from Jogjakarta, Samas beach has sloppy black sand beach with delta. Visitors can enjoy magnificent panorama and sunset from the lighthouse on the west side of the beach.

Glagah Beach

Glagah BeachLocated 40 km southwest of Jogjakarta. Glagah beach is an estuary of Serang River; it’s a convenient place for camp or for family gathering. Alongside the river, you can find paddies field with shady coconut palms. Visitors can enjoy canoeing on this wide serene river.

Kukup Beach

Kukup BeachLocated 3 km east of Baron, has the most beautiful beach on the south coast. It has a white sand beach and fish that aren’t seen in other areas. Visitors can buy or try to catch the fish on the beach; or just enjoy the beautiful marine life on 20 big seawater aquariums with wrasse, clown fish, scorpion fish, boxfish, and variety of coral sharks. When tide is near to the ground, visitors can enjoy the beautiful sea garden with colorful corals and colorful marine life.

Baron Beach

Baron BeachLocated 60 km from Jogjakarta and lined with lush green coconut palms, Baron has a protected lagoon, safe for swimming, with protruding rocky hills on each side. Local anglers sell their catch fresh from the sea, and nearby restaurants stand at the ready to cook them to the customer’s order.

Krakal Beach

To get to Krakal beach you have to pass Wonosari, the capital of the Gunung Kidul Regency, about 38 km from Jogjakarta. The winding and mountainous road is well asphalted and Krakal is about 21 km from Wonosari. Located 7 km to the eastern side of the main road where it branches off, crossing limestone hills with their harsh appearance and alternated with terraced rocks, which presents enchanting scenery on the way to Baron beach. Geologists say that a long time ago this place was fossils can still be found. Among all the beaches that stretch along the coast of Java, Krakal with its white sand surrounded with mountainous rocky hills is one of the most beautiful beaches around Jogjakarta. The battering of Krakal’s gigantic waves against the jagged rocks and coral, gives this beach a powerfully enchanting atmosphere. It has attracted many tourism-planning experts from foreign countries. They suggest that it should be prepared as a beach resort, particularly for foreign tourists (like Nusa Dua resorts in Bali). Their interest in exploring Krakal is supported by its attractive potentials such as: the sloping and white sandy beach that stretchs out almost 5 km. There is always warm sunshine from dawn until the twilight, enjoyed throughout the dry and rainy seasons. The cooling breeze makes it a most suitable beach for sun bathing. It’s cliffs offer shade from the sun and there’s an abundance of marine life. Krakal is close to Kukup BeachBaron Cave. This cave is in fact an estuary from an underground river that comes up exactly at the waterfront. It is interesting to observe the combination of the beach and the cave from the protruding rocky hills that flank the caves on both sides.

Mount Merapi

Mount MerapiThe eternally smoking giant called Mount Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes found in Indonesia and is cloaked in a sleepy, dense forest. Beyond this, there are vast amounts of deserted land lying deep in the steep valleys trailing amongst the mountain hills. Pasar Ngasem Yogyakarta

Pasar Ngasem Yogyakarta

Pasar Ngasem is more commonly known as the bird market, and, for obvious reasons!. Outside the entrance on the streets are live birds and cages for sale. But, it is inside the market that is, for sake of a word, surprising. It is a cacophony of alleyways with cage upon cage of birds and animals stacked on top of each other. It’s a smelly place and not one for the faint-hearted. However, it is an interesting place to visit!.
